On July 27, RuneScape is going to update a brand new lore chapter, called Desperate Measures, a sequel to last year's Desperate Times story.

 
 

Jagex have announced that the latest chapter in the RuneScape story is titled Desperate Measures. The new quest is meant for the players who yearn to test their newly acquired Archaeology skills and dive deeper into the world's lore. Desperate Measures will launch on Monday, July 27, 2020, is a direct follow up to last year’s Desperate Times narrative and will continue the Elder Gods questline.

Desperate Measures will see players gathering a team and using their Archaeology abilities to discover new mysteries in the dinosaur-infested island of Anachronia. Investigate the Kerapac threat and uncover more information about the Dragonkin, a race of powerful dragon-like creatures. Bringing the game's world of Gielinor to the edge of catastrophe, Desperate Measures will set things in motion that will inevitably lead to the rising of the Elder Gods, and the Elder God Wars. RuneScape members can prepare to wield their powerful Archaeology and Combat skills in readiness for Desperate Measures' arrival on Monday 27th July.
 
The world of Gielinor is approaching a catastrophic upheaval, one that will affect all inhabitants.  Desperate Measures will set events in motion that will ultimately lead to the awakening of the Elder Gods and the Elder God Wars.
 
The July 27 update will "set things in motion that will inevitably lead to the rising of the Elder Gods, and the Elder God Wars." As is typically the case with these updates, you'll have to be a member to reap all its benefits.
 
RuneScape has seen quite the revival lately — that is, if it ever truly died to begin with. Millions of players log in to the nostalgic title every month and Old School RuneScape is one of the most viewed MMORPGs on Twitch.
