Hu Tao Introduction
Hu Tao is headed to Genshin Impact and with her polearm and spirit friends on her side, she’s looking to be one of the best characters yet. With each new update it seems as though miHoYo wants to push the envelope on creating powerful characters that players will want to use. Hu Tao is especially interesting as she is detailed as a burst damage dealer, but she also controls spirits that can heal her for a portion of her maximum HP.
 
MiHoYo published a new trailer confirming the release of Hu Tao that gives fans a preview of the character’s background, voice, and personality. According to the official website, Hu Tao is the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor which technically makes her Zhongli’s boss, in spite of him supposedly being Rex Lapis and the former Geo Archon. She is a Pyro element character that uses a polearm as her weapon of choice, making her the second character in a row to be released that utilizes the weapon type. Her trailer also shows off her remarkably jolly and playful personality, which falls in sharp contrast with her position as the head of a funeral parlor.
 
As we learned yesterday, Hu Tao is a pyro DPS hero, combining elements of Xiao’s kit, where she sacrifices health to do elemental damage, and Childe, where she activates an elemental damage mode that lasts for a period of time, and marks enemies for constant DoT. She’ll be a good addition to a team, though if you just got Xiao, it feels like she may serve kind of the same role, and certainly is not a support character, that much is clear.
 
Moment of Bloom Banner Details
Besides “Fragrance in Thaw” Hu Tao as the featured five star characters, the banner will feature the following four star characters with a boosted drop rate: Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Chongyun. Xiangling and Xingqiu have been featured in several banners so far. Moreover, Xiangling is one of the free characters of Genshin Impact. As such, many players might not find the four star characters of the Moment of Bloom banner particularly appealing. However, Hu Tao alone might be worth it, seeing what we know about her Elemental Skill and Burst. Especially if you lack a good Pyro DPS character in your team.
